Ever since Kalcium Quickterm was nothing more but a glint in our developers' eyes, we have wanted to make terminology as easily accessible as possible for every user. And a process that began in the last millennium continues to this day thanks to a major focus on accessibility in version 6.7.2.
Following a comprehensive audit, we have implemented a number of recommendations to improve accessibility. These include a new high-contrast theme alongside the standard configuration as well as a number of features designed to ensure full compatibility with screen readers. All recommendations that we have not been able to incorporate in this minor release will be implemented in version 6.8.
Kalcium Quickterm: the leading terminology software designed for every user.
Terminologie & AI – AI & Terminologie
Terminology and AI is a combination packed with new possibilities for both disciplines. For example, harnessing the power of AI allows metadata such as a definitions for terminological entries to be suggested automatically—a convenient and time-saving function that we have further improved in this new release following intensive testing of a number of prompts. We have also integrated a new prompt tester directly into the schema editor and developed a more powerful interface to the TermCatch software from our Swedish partner Fodina.
Yet it's not just AI providing new efficiency gains: terminology has just as much to offer the artificial intelligence through effective terminology-augmented generation (TAG). Not content with just improving the retrieval endpoint for TAG, our developers have also made it easier to implement. So job done? Never. We are already moving on to further enhancements, such as a model context protocol (MCP) server: an open source framework that will contribute hugely to standardizing and optimizing communication between AI tools (especially large language models (LLMs)) and various external tools, systems, and data sources, allowing AI to be effectively integrated into existing processes. This standardized approach permits a seamless and efficient data exchange, which enables TAG to be used in LLMs as part of a truly agentic workflow.
Further improvementsin Kalcium 6.7.2
An improved comparison view has been deployed throughout Kalcium, particularly for before/after overviews of the workflows. What's more, specific columns can now be fixed in the overview tables, simplifying use of the task lists and the batch editor.
Security has been tightened in Kalcium 6.7.2 with the introduction of OAuth2 mail server authentication for notifications.
Checkterm now supports Fonto (Tridion online editor) as well as the Smart Media Creator online editor.
Otherwise 6.7.2—as the final minor release for version 6.7.—contains countless optimizations to make features more stable, logical, and user-friendly. These include the entry preview for batch editing, significantly improved configuration tooltips, extra functions for inconsistency checks, and much more.
