Quickterm 6.8.1. comes with many new features, such as the new Quickterm app as a single, central application for desktops and plug-ins. The MCP server has been officially released and several new functions have been developed to make workflows and quality assurance easier, including entry validation and AI localization in Studio. In this blog post, we take a look at the most important updates and what they mean for users.
The Quickterm AppÂ
At the heart of the upgrade is the new Quickterm App, which brings together all previous desktop applications such as Checkterm, software plug-ins (including Studio and Passolo), and Kaleidoscope Express into a single application. With only one installation and one sign-in required, the new app is much more efficient and convenient for users. All existing functions remain available and some have even been improved.
Please note: Available functionality depends on your server license.
Try out AI Localization
As mentioned above, the Studio plug-in is now included in the Quickterm app. It has been expanded with a preview feature for AI localization based on hybrid translation using large language models (LLMs) and terminology-augmented generation via Quickterm. This gives you the opportunity to experiment with the technology and share your feedback with us. We plan for the feature to be launched as a standard function in version 6.8.2, including batch mode.
MCP Server Officially Released
After multiple trial and feedback rounds, the Quickterm MCP Server (Model Context Protocol) was officially released with Quickterm 6.8.1. Many community requests were incorporated. Thank you for all the constructive feedback!
Validating Entries Â
New validation features make it possible to define conditions that must be met before an entry can be saved. These validations can be assigned per group and apply both interactively in the editor and in tasks, for example. You can choose whether warnings should be displayed or if saving is blocked, and all messages are fully customizable. Typical use cases include requiring that an abbreviation also has a full form, or ensuring that certain fields must be filled out together.
"Translate Without Workflow" Option
Translators now have the option to translate entries directly, completely without a workflow. A dedicated editor with its own field permissions is available for this, combining elements of the editing and translation workflows. Alternatively, the classic translation and "Translation Suggestion with Workflow"Â methods remain available.
Improved Accessibility
The remaining outstanding items from a recent accessibility audit have now been implemented. The next step is a re-audit to receive final confirmation that our software can be considered accessible to all users.
Conclusion
Quickterm 6.8.1 reduces installation effort and delivers targeted improvements in workflows, validation, and AI integration.
