Kalcium 6.6.0 - The new release brings AI and much more
5. December 2023
The new Kalcium version 6.6.0 offers a lot of new features, because this time we are not only integrating OpenAI for automatically supplying metadata or definitions, but also to analyze and "repair" server-based translation memories.. 🚀🚀🚀
But even without AI, many innovations make things much easier. For example, it is now possible to define exactly when emails are sent for multi-step workflows. This means that instead of a flood of emails to everyone, only the people responsible for the next workflow step are informed.
There is also an improvement in terms of security, as Kalcium extensions now need to be signed.
Kalcium 6.6.0: The following functions stand out in particular:
- OpenAI integration
- Automatically populate fields with customizable prompts (e.g., metadata, definitions)
- Integration of AI to revise texts in the term check instead of simple search/replace (as a beta function)
- TM analysis and repair for server-based TMS: Checkterm automatically analyzes entire translation memories (TMs) for terminology errors and offers the possibility to repair them directly, also using AI, as above. (Please note: This feature is currently in beta and only available to customers who explicitly activate it. Depending on feedback, this feature is expected to be available to everyone in 6.6.1)
- New feature: Terminology projects
- Entries can be combined into projects manually, automatically, or via an import function
- Entries can be sent to different tasks
- Statistics on current tasks in projects can be viewed
- In addition to terminology, projects also include Kalcium Contentflow and Kalcium Smartquery
- Search profiles make it easier for users to apply frequently used search settings. This greatly increases convenience, as users do not have to "learn" the individual configuration options
- Automation: Term requests can now be automatically created as entries based on certain conditions
- Aggregated group view: For a specific person, you can see which options are activated for them and which group they come from. This makes it easier to search for problems if this person is a member of several groups
Other new features worth mentioning in Kalcium 6.6.0:
- Publishing supports output to both TBX V3 variants. Entries deleted in the source repository can also be deleted in the target repository. Formatted XLSX files can also be created
- A vendor-side project manager role has been added to Smartquery. Users with this role can create users themselves, which greatly simplifies user management
- Contentflow can now automatically import the return packages from translators, and upload and synchronize projects in Globalreview
- Checkterm displays the Concept Map Navigator in the plug-ins and is much faster thanks to changes to the indexing and cache logic. In addition, Checkterm can now also check for terminology directly while you are working in the terminology editor itself, for example in definitions, thus increasing consistency within the termbase itself. Oxygen Author is now also supported with a new plug-in
- The selected taxonomy node is displayed in Quickterm for better clarity. In addition, Quickterm now also supports history fields from Trados Terminology
- In the Kalcium plug-in, the segment ID can now be passed to queries. Furthermore, a Kalcium termbase can be used for terminology in Passolo.
- And much more ...
More about the new features of Kalcium 6.6.0
In this webinar recording, the new functions are explained in more detail:
Compatibility with Trados Studio
Due to a massive API change from RWS in Trados Studio 2022 SR2, Kalcium 6.6.0 can only be used with SR2 installed! Trados Studio 2022 SR1 and below is not supported! Trados Studio 2019 and 2021 are not affected. You can therefore use either Trados Studio 2019, Trados Studio 2021 or Trados Studio 2022 SR2. Only Trados Studio 2022 without SR or with SR1 are not supported.
Attention, preview!
Please note the changes that will be made in our next release
- From Kalcium 6.6.1/Checkterm 6.6.1 we use .net 8
- Starting with Kalcium 6.6.1, MS SQL 2016 is the minimum requirement for the database
