Kalcium 6.7.0: The Main Developments
18. November 2024
The development of Kalcium and the individual software modules such as Quickterm, Checkterm, and more is progressing in line with the roadmap. Once again, many thanks to our lively community for their suggestions and ideas! This feedback allows us to constantly improve our software and our services.
A small selection of the many new features is outlined below. As always, more detailed information is available in the release notes and our Kalcium release webinar on December 2, 2024 (link to the form at the bottom of our website).

The most important points of Kalcium 6.7.0 are:
General improvements
These are particularly noticeable in the following areas:
- Project groups: You can now combine individual projects into a larger project group. This is particularly helpful for long-running projects that consist of numerous individual "sub-projects".
- Kalcium now has a context-sensitive help function in numerous dialog boxes
- The number of custom fields for the task lists has been increased to 10 for Quickterm and Contentflow
Improved User-friendliness
We are introducing the following simplifications with Kalcium 6.7.0:
- Agile workflows: You can now configure workflows so that tasks can be manually assigned to individual users and each time the workflow is started
- There is now a separate "User administration" role. This allows terminologists to add users quickly and flexibly, and assign individual tasks to them
- Languages, terms, and fields can be copied into other languages in the entry editor ("Copy to ...").
- Default workflows can be stored for Contentflow
- Numerous convenience improvements such as auto-complete in all drop-downs, "open in new tab", information when deleting critical objects, etc.
Updates to Quickterm
- A separate retrieval endpoint with retrieval profile facilitates the use of terminology for TAG (Terminology Augmented Generation). Terminologists can define in a retrieval profile which terminology data should be output and how. With the help of this function, users – such as IT specialists – no longer need to have detailed knowledge of terminology. The profiles are configured by an administrator with an understanding of terminology, after which only the retrieval endpoint with the text to be analyzed needs to be called up by specifying the profile to be used. The response then only contains the configured information instead of the full range of content that would be provided by the search function, for example, making it easier for the terminology to be used for other purposes
- The AI settings for content generation can now be saved in profiles and applied flexibly.
- In addition to OpenAI, Azure AI is now also available as an AI engine
- The dialog box for the translation suggestion has been expanded and is now almost identical to the translation dialog
- A different stylesheet to that in the concept navigator can now be used in the entire concept map view. It also possible to configure different stylesheets for Checkterm and Quickterm
- With the completely new batch editing function, you can edit several data records at once. As a first step, the UI for this feature is now available as a beta version for sponsors. Batch editing will then be available as a full feature in 6.7.1.
Improvements to Checkterm
The new Checkterm Web UI has been completely redesigned and now displays the document in its context. In addition, each error is displayed as an entry in the task list, in the same way as in other areas of Quickterm. There are also plans to in future be able to send these "errors" to other users as tasks.
New developments for Contentflow
- Individual files can now also be finalized and delivered in advance directly from Trados Studio using the Studio plug-in, as is already possible with GroupShare
- A retry logic has been implemented for numerous requests for greater stability
