Kalcium 6.6.1 - Easier in Every Respect

Kalcium 6.6.1 once again brings many new possibilities and numerous simplifications that will make your work and that of your end users easier.

We can only present a selection of the 200 or so new features here.

Please note:

  • For security reasons, Kalcium will be using .NET 8 as of this release
  • The AI integration introduced in 6.6.0 as a beta feature is now officially part of Kalcium

Kalcium Express: Your personal assistant from any Windows program

Kalcium Express was already available in a Java version, but has now been redeveloped for .NET 8. It's a handy little helper that essentially runs in the background and is used via customizable hotkeys whenever other software, such as a browser-based translation tool, does not allow a direct integration into Kalcium. All you need to do is simply download Kalcium Express in Kalcium. It does not require its own license, but corresponding access licenses on the server are required.

Kalcium Express gives you access to the full range of functions of the Kalcium software you are using. For example, you can search from Trados Team in Kalcium Quickterm, make a term request, start Checkterm for a text analysis, submit a query using Smartquery, and so on. It is even possible to submit a query or start a Checkterm analysis from Windows Notepad.

Expanded terminology project management functions

Kalcium has had terminology project management capabilities since 6.6.0 was launched, which simplifies working with many entries in particular. In 6.6.1 you can now edit entries directly or via a batch file.

Entry Change History Mail - Or the somewhat different terminology "newsletter"

As the name "Entry Change History" suggests, you can define exactly which changes you want to be informed about automatically by e-mail, e.g., on a weekly or monthly basis. Of course, you can also specify the recipients and restrict them to certain departments. With this special terminology newsletter, the approval process can be organized a little differently: anyone who "remains silent" shall be deemed to have agreed. Anyone who does not agree can click on the changes directly in the interactive e-mail and leave their feedback.

Further simplifications

The Workflow Editor in Kalcium Contentflow has been improved in many ways, allowing you to benefit from simplifications here too. Our developers have also revised the way in which the project and file management works.

Further connections

Across is now also connected via Kalcium Publishing and can therefore be continuously synchronized with Kalcium Quickterm in the same way as Phrase, memoQ, or machine translation tools such as Language Weaver or DeepL.

New export formats

Another export format available in Kalcium is "JSON", a compact data format in an easy-to-read text form for data exchange. Kalcium Publishing now also exports TBX Version 3.
